Utah earns a fourth-place finish to open the fall slate.
BOISE, Idaho - The Utah Women's tennis team closed out the weekend at the Barb Chandler Classic on Sunday Morning as they earned a fourth-place finish in the event.
"It was great to finish the tournament with our best match execution-wise," said Coach Ric Mortera. "Katya showed a lot of growth from her match yesterday to perform the way she did today. We look forward to getting back home to get healthy and to get back out on the practice courts."
The Utes took on Montana for the third-place match. In singles, Katya Hersh came away with a singles win for the Utes. She defeated Lauren Dunlap, 6-4, 6-1, for her second singles win of the weekend.
Unfortunately, Samantha Horwood could not participate in today's matchup, so the Utes had to withdraw from the doubles match and Horwood's single match against Haugen.
The Utes were defeated by Montana, 2-1, in the mini draw of the blue flight and came away with a fourth-place finish at the event.
Up Next Following the Barb Chandler Classic, Utah will send a group of its players to the 15k Hilton Head on October 2 in Hilton Head, S.C., and another group to the USD Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by the University of San Diego on Sept. 29-Oct. 2.
