Whittingham, the winningest leader in program history, is 162-78 as head coach (since 2005). Including his time as an assistant coach (1994-2004), Whittingham has contributed to 247 wins and coached in 366 games, both the most of any coach in program history.
Utah finished its Pac-12 Conference era with a record of 65-48 in regular season league games. The Utes also won their final conference game as a member of the Mountain West (2010 vs. BYU), Big Seven (1947 vs. Utah State) and Rocky Mountain Conference (1937 at Colorado State).
Today's attendance of 51,595 marked the 83rd consecutive sellout of Rice-Eccles Stadium, dating back to the 2010 season opener vs. Pitt. The RES season average attendance of 52,499 per game is a facility record, surpassing the 2022 season (52,057).
Today's 1 p.m. kickoff marked Utah's ninth day game of the year and sixth at home. The nine total (six at home plus Baylor, Washington and Arizona) are the most since 2001.
Utah won the time of possession battle, 39:04 to 20:56. It marks the ninth time this season and sixth in the last seven games that Utah won the TOP battle.
Utah won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. The Utes defended the North goal to begin the game.
 Offense
Quarterback Luke Bottari made his first start as a Ute, passing 6-for-10 for 61 yards, no interceptions and no sacks. He also rushed five times for 11 yards and his first two touchdowns, becoming the first Utah quarterback since Jason Shelley (2018 vs. Oregon) to have two rushing touchdowns in his first Utah start.
Bottari is the fourth straight Utah quarterback to win their first start as a Ute. It includes Bottari (today vs. Colorado), Nate Johnson (2023 vs. Weber State), Bryson Barnes (2022 at Washington State) and Charlie Brewer (2021 vs. Weber State).
Utah's 268 rushing yards marked the sixth time this season that the Utes eclipsed 200 yards on the ground. The Utes also have rushed for 100 or more yards in 35 of the last 37 games, dating back to the Washington State game in 2021.
Running back Jaylon Glover rushed 17 times for a career-best 107 yards, including a career-long 30-yard rush during Utah's opening drive of the game. It was Glover's first career 100-yard game and fifth by a Ute this season.
Running back Ja'Quinden Jackson logged 21 carries, his third game this season with 20-plus rushes. It includes 26 at USC and 22 vs. Cal.
Wide receiver Luca Caldarella had a 16-yard reception during the third quarter; it was a fourth-down conversion and a career-long catch for Caldarella.
Bottari's two-yard touchdown with 4:03 in the first quarter marked Utah's fifth touchdown this season on an opening drive and the sixth time the Utes have scored first.
Glover has recorded 257 of his 513 yards this season since the Oregon game on Oct. 28. He is averaging 5.14 yards per carry in that time.
Utah totaled 10 pass attempts on the day, the fewest for the Utes in a game since at least 1996.
Greg Mroz of the Pac-12 Research Department confirmed that today's game was just the third time in the Pac-12 era that a team attempted 10 or fewer passes. All three won (Arizona had done it twice before).
 Defense
As a team, Utah allowed 37 rushing yards to Colorado. It marks the sixth sub-100-yard game on the ground for a Utah opponent this season. It is also the 49th time with Morgan Scalley as defensive coordinator (since 2016) and 34th in a Pac-12 Conference game.
After Colorado went 2-for-4 on third-down conversion attempts during the first quarter, the Utes held the Buffaloes to a 1-for-5 clip over the final three quarters.
Linebacker Levani Damuni contributed 10 tackles in the game; he has four double-digit performances in the last five games (since Oregon). He is averaging 9.6 tackles per game in that stretch.
After missing the Arizona game, Cole Bishop returned to action starting at safety and made seven tackles (1.0 sack). Bishop's sack was his first since the Weber State game.
Bishop is averaging 6.25 tackles in his last four games played, with three sevens in there (vs. Oregon, at Washington, vs. Colorado).
Cornerback JaTravis Broughton made five tackles in the game, his most since the season opener vs. Florida (8).
Defensive end Connor O'Toole had a strip-sack on Colorado's opening drive, with the fumble recovered by fellow defensive end Van Fillinger. It is O'Toole's third sack in the last four games, his first career forced fumble and Fillinger's first career recovery.
It marked the eighth time this season that Utah held its opponent scoreless on a game-opening drive. It also gave Utah a defensive takeaway (either a fumble recovery, interception or both) in 11 of 12 regular season games this season.
Returning from injury, Karene Reid started at linebacker. Reid's last game action came at Washington.
