Utes in the Pros: Week 16

SALT LAKE CITY – The holiday season is picking up, and so too are playoff races throughout the NFL as teams approach Week 16 of the schedule. Twenty-five alumni of the Utah Football program are on rosters across the league, with 16 expected to suit up this weekend.

SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles will host a pair of Week 16 games featuring Pro Utes. It all begins on Thursday Night Football when Nephi Sewell and the New Orleans Saints come to town for a meeting with the Rams, while two days later Dalton Kincaid's Buffalo Bills take on the Chargers.

Six games on Sunday are expected to include a former Ute, highlighted by a quartet in the Indianapolis-Atlanta game with Julian Blackmon, Matt Gay, Zack Moss and Clark Phillips III all on active rosters for the Colts and Falcons.

Christmas Day has a full slate of Pro Utes in store, kicking off with Kansas City hosting Las Vegas; Alex Whittingham is on the Chiefs staff as defensive quality control coach. The Giants head to Philadelphia in the middle game to face an Eagles squad featuring Britain Covey and offensive coordinator Brian Johnson. Then, the nightcap will feature a reunion of former Utah teammates Tyler Huntley, Marcus Williams and Mitch Wishnowsky as Baltimore takes on San Francisco.

In the NFC West, Wishnowsky and the 49ers have locked up the division title, while the Eagles are tied for the NFC East lead with Britain Covey continuing to handle punt returns and Brian Johnson serving as offensive coordinator.

Three of the four division-leading clubs in the AFC have a Utah connection; it includes Baltimore in the AFC North, Jacksonville and Indianapolis in a three-way tie for the South and Kansas City has a two-game lead in the AFC West. Baltimore and Philadelphia have also clinched playoff berths.
