Utah Football Announces 2023 Season Opener Date Against Florida

SALT LAKE CITY – The back-to-back Pac-12 Champions are officially 170 days away from opening the 2023 season with the University of Utah Football team hosting the Florida Gators on Thursday, Aug. 31 in Rice-Eccles Stadium to start the year. A game time and TV designation will be announced at a later date.
The game against the Gators will also be a Red Out with fans encouraged to wear red for the season opener. Utah is 13-1 in the Kyle Whittingham era when starting a season on a weekday with Utah's game against Florida being its first Thursday game since 2021 when the Utes beat Weber State 40-17.
Utah's 12-game slate in 2023 includes a non-conference schedule that features two Power Five teams from the SEC and the Big 12 along with seven home games in the electric atmosphere that is Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The Utes have sold out Rice-Eccles Stadium in 76 consecutive games, dating back to the 2010 season opener. Utah has been undefeated at home the last two seasons and will look to continue the streak this season.
Preparation for the 2023 season is already underway with spring practices starting next week on Tuesday, March 21 with the annual spring game set for April 22. Tickets for the spring game and more information about the game will be available next week.
