AZUSA/WALNUT, Calif. – A successful day on the track for Utah was capped off by
Simone Plourde setting the school record in the 5000m invite race with a time of 15:21.19 at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Millie Wilcox was the first Ute competing in a track event on Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, finishing eighth-overall with a PR time of 2:10.87 in the 800m run. In the invite section of the 800m run,
Josefine Eriksen was the first Ute to toe the line as she took sixth in her heat after crossing the finish line at 2:04.16. Freshman
Bri Rinn ran strong in her heat of the 800m race and finished with a new personal best mark of 2:09.36.

In the first 5000m open race,
Kylie Hartnett led a trio of Utes running their first-career outdoor 5k with a sixth-place finish behind a time of 16:55.90 while
Ellie Lundgreen (17:05.37) and
Maddie Reed (17:09.03) to earn 12th and 13th-overall, respectively.
Ariel Keklak then went out and won her section of the 5000m race after crossing the finish line at 16:41.30 while
Lauren Peterson followed with a time of 16:58.09 with both also running their first outdoor 5k.

Plourde's 5000m race got the crowd at the Cougar Athletic Stadium going with her and Utah Valley's Everlyn Kemboi battling it out to the very end with the two of them breaking the meet record. Plourde wound up breaking the school record in the 5k with a time of 15:21.19 to smash
Cara Woolnough's previous school record of 15:40.at the same meet last season. Meanwhile, teammate
Bella Williams saw herself jump up three spots to No. 3 on the all-time list after crossing the finish line at 15:43.23.

Rachel Whipple concluded her first heptathlon on Friday with 4260 points – which was good for eighth-overall. She opened up the day with a long jump distance of 4.68m (15-4.25) before recording 19.34m (63-5) in the javelin throw. Whipple made up some ground in the final event to move up two spots after taking second in her section of the 800m run with a time of 2:25.29 to secure 753 points.

MT. SAC RELAYS
Over at Hilmer Lodge Stadium,
Harley Daniel was the first one to hit the track, posting a 14.55 mark in the 100m hurdles before
Dee Denis recorded a time of 14.67 in her respective heat of the event. In a unique turn of events,
Megan Rose,
Maya LeBar and
Malia Overton all ran in different heats of the 100m dash but all recorded a time of 12.45. However, after their times were broken down into the thousandths of a second, Rose came out ahead with a time of 12.443 while LeBar and Overton both clocked in at 12.444.

Ally Gomm made it back-to-back weekends with a new PR in the 400m hurdles on Friday when she crossed the finish line at 1:00.53 to take second in her heat. Later on,
Harley Daniel got her start on the blocks and finished in 1:02.54.

Emily Martin came out strong in the 400m dash before ultimately posting a time of 55.22 in her first race in this event – which wound up being the sixth-fastest time at Utah.

Later on, in the 200m dash, Rose finished third in her heat of the event after tying her career-best with a mark of 25.63 while running against a head wind. Meanwhile, LeBar wrapped up the day for Utah at the Mt. SAC Relays with a time of 25.06.

The Women of Utah wrap up their weekend on Saturday at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays before returning home to compete at the Robison Invitational (April 20-22) next week while
Emily Venters heads to the Payton Jordan Invitational down on the Farm.
