This Weekend's Fan Experience Rundown
With the forecast calling for perfect baseball weather this weekend in Salt Lake City, there's plenty happening at Smith's Ballpark around Utah's series vs. Washington State.
- Friday's series opener falls on Arbor Day and is Utah's Pac-12 Team Green Game to celebrate sustainability. The first 200 fans through the gates will receive a free Utah/Pac-12 Team Green sticker and members of the U's Sustainability Office and ASUU will be on hand to educate fans about sustainability.
- For Saturday's contest, the first 300 fans will receive a free pair of Utah sunglasses. Then on Sunday, match up your new sunglasses with Utah-themed croakies (sunglasses straps).
- Bring your baseball glove and a ball on Saturday as Utah hosts a postgame catch in the outfield. The postgame activities continue on Sunday with young fans getting a chance to meet the Utes for autographs.

The First Pitch: Things to Know
The Utah baseball team returns home to Smith's Ballpark this weekend for a three-game series against Pac-12 Conference foe Washington State. All three games will air online via Utah's Live Stream as well as on the radio airwaves of ESPN 700 AM and 92.1 FM, with Bill Riley at the microphone.
- The Utes come back to their home confines on the heels of a 13-3 victory on Tuesday down in St. George over in-state foe Utah Tech. In a game that was called after seven innings due to the run rule, Davis Cop was 5-for-5 with two homers, six RBI and four runs scored to pace the Utes' bats.
- Leadoff man Kai Roberts had a 3-for-4 afternoon against the Trailblazers with four runs scored himself and Karson Bodily drove in a pair of runs on his fourth double of the season.
- The pitching staff is due credit as well; TJ Clarkson worked the first two innings of the game before Bransen Kuehl had four strikeouts in a two-inning outing. Jaden Harris dealt a 1-2-3 fifth before Blake Whiting took the Utes home from there, striking out four in another two-inning appearance.
- Utah took two of three in the 2022 series at Washington State, and were on the verge of a sweep before the Cougars rallied to walk-off in the series finale. Dakota Duffalo was 6-for-13 in the series with a home run and three runs scored, while then-freshman Landon Frei also had a 6-for-13 clip that weekend.
- It was also a series last year where a relatively young Utah pitching staff performed well. Micah Ashman earned his first collegiate victory with a relief appearance on Friday, then fellow rookies Cam Day and Jaden Harris posted six-inning starts in the final two contests. Harris picked up the middle game win and Day received no-decision on Sunday.
- The Utes are in search of their first home series win over WSU since the 2019 season, when the club earned victories in the first two games at Smith's Ballpark.
- Following this weekend with the Cougars, the Utes will be off until next Friday, May 5 at Oregon State. In the meantime, it's finals week at Utah and the club will be off from midweek action while taking care of exams.
