Utes climb to No. 12 in Softball America, No. 14 in ESPN.com, ranked No. 17 by NFCA
SALT LAKE CITY – Just a few days after securing the first-ever Pac-12 Tournament Championship and locking in a home regional to start the NCAA Tournament, the University of Utah softball team continued its climb up the national rankings, reaching the squad's highest placement in the NFCA/USA Today, ESPN.com/USA Softball and Softball America rankings during the current campaign.
The Softball America Top 25 moved the Utes up three spots to No. 12, the highest ranking for Utah softball since they reached 11th in 2017, and they also climbed three positions in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll to snag 14th. The Utes broke into the NFCA's top 20 for the first time in 2023, jumping four spots to No. 17.
These advancements occurred after the Utes spent their most recent weekend on the field rolling through three opponents, including No. 5 Washington and No. 2 UCLA, to bring home the first-ever Pac-12 Softball Tournament Championship. That accomplishment earned Utah the No. 15 national seed in the NCAA Tournament and the chance to host an NCAA Regional. Utah will begin that regional tournament with a matchup against Southern Illinois on Friday at 1:30 p.m. MT.
