SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah Football offensive coordinator
Andy Ludwig has been named one of the inaugural recipients of the GRAPHITE Award by RII Sports Technology, recognizing excellence in offensive play calling efficiency.
RII Sports Technology assesses every Division I football program's play-by-play data and the degree to which play callers made decisions that aligned with their team's strength on their opponent's weaknesses.
Ludwig's efficiency rating through the 2022 season ranked first in the Pac-12 and in the 95
th percentile among all FBS programs.
In the four seasons since Ludwig's return to Utah, the offense has eclipsed 450 yards of total offense in 24 of the 47 games he has coached, also scoring 30-or-more points in 34. The Utes have finished in the top-three in the Pac-12 in rushing offense in three of the last four seasons, including toping the league in 2019 and 2021.
In 2022, Utah's offense led the Pac-12 and ranked second in the FBS in first downs offense, producing 365 total and 26.1 per game. Utah also averaged 38.6 points per game last season, ranking 11
th in the FBS after scoring 30+ points in 10 of its 14 games.
Utah's 38 rushing touchdowns in 2022 set the program record for single-season rushing touchdowns for the second straight year, also ranking fifth nationally. Helping with those statistics was Utah's offensive line, that held opponents to just 1.07 sacks per game which ranked 16
th among FBS programs.
