SALT LAKE CITY – With its first season as a member of the Big 12 Conference on the horizon, the University of Utah softball program has officially announced its schedule for the 2025 campaign, which will consist of 54 games, including 24 contests against Utah's new league rivals and 14 fixtures inside Dumke Family Softball Stadium.
Starting on Feb. 7, the Utes will navigate a challenging slate that will see them test their mettle against nine teams that ended the 2024 campaign ranked, two more who received votes in the year's final Top 25 poll and five teams who captured conference championships. The 2025 regular season schedule will take the Utes to Arizona, California, Idaho, Texas and Oklahoma before the 2025 Big 12 Tournament, which will be held at Devon Park in Oklahoma City from May 7 – 10.
For the first time since 2022, the Utes will get their season started in Tempe, Ariz., the site of the Kajikawa Classic. Utah was a regular at this event from 2016 – 22 and their list of wins at the tournament during that time included defeats of then-No. 14 Northwestern in 2020 and BYU in 2021. In the 2025 edition, the Utes will start the season on Feb. 7 against Minnesota and California, before taking on Maryland and Miami (OH) a day later and finishing the season's first weekend with a rematch against the Golden Gophers on Sunday.
For each of the next three weekends, the schedule will take the Utes to California, first for six games at the Fresno State Tournament from Feb. 14 – 17, followed by a trip to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City on Feb. 21 – 23 and then to the Judi Garman Classic, which will be held in Fullerton, Calif., scheduled for Feb. 28 – March 2.
Utah's time in Fresno will include matchups against UCSB, Loyola Marymount and Fresno State, who they'll each play twice, before they begin their time in Cathedral City by facing Oregon and Long Beach State on Feb. 21. On the second day of the Mary Nutter Classic, Utah's opponents will be the defending CAA Tournament Champions in Cal State Fullerton and the Austin Regional runner-up in Northwestern. The Utes will spend Sunday squaring off with Nebraska, who they earned a come-from-behind win against in their final game of the 2023 Mary Nutter Classic.
Utah will be back at the Judi Garman Classic for the first time since 2022 and they'll open the tournament on Feb. 28 with tilts against LSU and UCLA, then they'll cross paths with SDSU and Cal State Fullerton a day later. Utah's time in Fullerton will conclude with a game against Weber State.
The final non-conference tournament on the docket for
Amy Hogue's crew is the Boise State Tournament from March 7 – 10 and that event pits the program against Boise State, Detroit Mercy, Washington and Idaho State during those four days.
The Utes' first-ever Big 12 series will be against an old Pac-12 foe in the Arizona Wildcats, who Utah will visit in Tucson, Arizona on March 14 – 16. The first opportunity Utes fans will have to see their team on its home field will be on March 20, when they'll entertain St. Mary's in a mid-week affair, immediately followed by three games against the Kansas Jayhawks as part of a stretch of seven consecutive home contests for the Utes. That long homestand will conclude on March 28 – 30 against the Houston Cougars.
The Utes will spend the last five weeks of the regular season alternating between conference series on the road and at home, with an April 15 home rematch with Weber State thrown in, before concluding that portion of the schedule with three days in Stillwater, Oklahoma on May 2 – 4, where they'll be tasked with taking on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls before beginning Big 12 Tournament play.
In each of the past two years, the Utes have fought their way to their conference's championship game and they'll be attempting to do the same at Devon Park when Utah competes in the Big 12 Tournament for the first time from May 7 - 10. The Utes will then hope to hear their name called for NCAA Regionals, which will be held from May 16 - 18, followed by NCAA Super Regionals May 23 - 25. The 2025 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City is slated for May 29 - June 6.
