Utes in the Pros: Week 15

SALT LAKE CITY – The first 14 weeks of the NFL's regular season are officially in the books and only one month of football remains before the postseason begins.

With Week 15 about to kick off, a total of 18 Utah Football alumni will be in action on active rosters and 28 Pro Utes are on rosters throughout the league.

One team that has officially secured its place in the postseason is the Detroit Lions, who did so with a Thursday night victory over the Green Bay Packers, thanks in large part to two Tim Patrick touchdowns. In the NFC, Britain Covey's Philadelphia Eagles have rattled off nine straight wins and locked up their own playoff berth, while simultaneously closing in on an NFC East title.

Three teams in the NFL have multiple Utes on their active roster and all three, Denver, Detroit and Buffalo, currently find themselves in playoff position. For the Broncos, Devaughn Vele has moved up to second on the squad in receiving, Cody Barton is tied atop the team leaderboard in tackles, Jonah Ellis has racked up five sacks and Cody Barton continues to anchor an offensive line that's among the league leaders in fewest sacks allowed.

In addition to Patrick's exploits for the Lions, Sione Vaki's work on special teams earned him a Pro Bowl nomination, an honor that was also granted to Cole Bishop in Buffalo. Meanwhile for the Bills, Dalton Kincaid seems poised to return to action as his team continues vying for the AFC's top seed.
