Utah Football's Chris Kemoeatu Named To Polynesian Football Hall Of Fame Class of 2025

HONOLULU – Former University of Utah standout and two-time Super Bowl Champion Chris Kemoeatu has been named to the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Kemoeatu is one of three inductees to the 2025 class, selected from a group of nine finalists.
Kemoeatu played at Utah from 2001-04 as a three-time All-Mountain West selection, earning a first-team nod in 2004. He was also a first-team All-American in 2004 for the FWAA and SI.com, leading an offense through the undefeated Fiesta Bowl season.
He was named a full-time starter on the offensive line in 2002 after being recruited as a defensive lineman, becoming an integral part of the Utah offense until he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Kemoeatu, who is of Tongan ancestry, was inducted into the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002. He spent seven years in the NFL, helping the Steelers to two Super Bowl wins in 2006 and 2009.
The Kahuku, Hawaii, native played in 75 games for Pittsburgh, earning the start in 53. He started his football journey at Kahuku High School in northern O'ahu, leading his team to the school's first-ever state championship in 2000, earning Hawaii High School Defensive Player of the Year.
The inductees were selected from a field of over 100 nominees by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee, which includes former Utah head coach Ron McBride. Kemoeatu and the other inductees will be honored during the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend, Jan. 17-19, 2025.
