SAN FRANCISCO – After homering in both of her team's wins last week for the University of Utah softball team,
Shonty Passi was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Monday.
Passi started her scorching hot week by collecting two hits, including her first collegiate home run, against Baylor on Wednesday and she also drove in three runs in a 9-1 Utah victory. After picking up hits on Friday and Saturday as well, Passi went deep again on Sunday, driving in what turned out to be the winning run in a 5-0 triumph over Oregon State.
Passi's numbers for the week included a .500 average, two homers, four RBIs and a 1.000 fielding percentage at shortstop.
The Utes have now collected each of the Pac-12's weekly awards during the 2024 season, with
Aliya Belarde claiming player of the week honors on April 8, followed by
Mariah Lopez being named the conference's pitcher of the week on April 15.
