SALT LAKE CITY – Outfielder Hailey Deter has officially signed on to join the University of Utah softball team, coach
Amy Hogue announced on Tuesday.
"We are thrilled to welcome Hailey Deter to our Ute family," said Hogue. "Her strong work ethic and determination will elevate our program to new heights. With her ability to produce impressive power numbers, she will significantly impact our offense, while also providing steady and reliable support for our defense. We are eagerly anticipating Hailey joining us as we compete for conference and national titles."
Deter started her collegiate career with three seasons at Liberty and, in 2024, she was part of a Flames squad that won the Conference USA Regular Season and Tournament Championships and traveled all the way to the regional final at the NCAA Athens Regional. During that 2024 campaign, Deter batted .269 with three homers and 13 RBIs in 41 games. That stat line included her first collegiate home run, which was a game-winner for the Flames on March 8 against FIU. Deter also helped Liberty reach the final game of the NCAA Los Angeles Regional in 2023.
The Roanoke, Virginia native joined the Flames after a career at Lord Botetourt High School in which she helped lead her team to two district titles, was a two-time first-team all-district and crafted a .452/.603/.929 slash line as a senior. She also landed on the all-region team twice, including a 2021 first-team selection. Hailey is the daughter of Dan and Renee Deter.
Deter is the second transfer portal addition the Utes have announced so far in 2024. Former All-WAC selection Kayla Lyon officially joined the Utes on June 28.
