SALT LAKE CITY – D1Softball released its D100 Freshman Watch List on Wednesday and University of Utah pitcher
Hailey Maestretti was one of the student-athletes who earned a spot on the list.
Maestretti is preparing for her first season in Salt Lake City after a prep career in which she accumulated a list of honors that included earning the title of 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year in Colorado. The Parker native was chosen as an All-American by Extra Inning Softball and MaxPreps and helped her program capture consecutive state championships. Her efforts were also rewarded with three 4A Player of the Year awards, one of which came after she spent the 2023 season pitching over 200 innings, crafting a 2.24 ERA and batting .392.
Maestretti and her teammates will begin spring practice on Wednesday as they prepare for a 2025 season that will commence on Feb. 7.
