Utah Volleyball Shows Fight, Can’t Get Win in Boulder

Utes started hot against No. 24 Colorado but failed to take the match
BOULDER, Colo. – Utah Volleyball got off to a fast start against No. 24 Colorado in the first set but couldn't keep the momentum up the rest of the way, falling to the Buffs 1-3.
The Utes were competitive throughout the match, however, Colorado proved to be too much (25-15, 26-30, 21-25, 19-25).
SET ONE
Utah jumped out to a 3-1 start in the first set over Colorado with Lana Mijacic putting the exclamation kill into motion.
SET TWO
Colorado got off to a quick 3-1 lead over the Utes in the next set, but Utah roared back tying things up at five thanks to an ace from Levani Key-Powell and a kill from Gibadlo.
The Buffs refused to go down without a fight forcing 12 ties and four lead changes, eventually taking the set, 29-27.
SET THREE
Utah and Colorado kept up the back-and-forth until the Buffs took an 8-6 lead and never looked back winning the third set 25-21.
Momentum continued to stay with the Buffs into set four with Colorado jumping to a 6-1 lead before Neea-Maria Joki snapped their scoring streak.
STANDOUT STATS
The Utes head back home to host No. 7 Arizona State on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. MT.
Utah will celebrate 50 years of the program on Alumni Night against ASU and hold a Kids Clinic immediately following the match.
Krista Blunk and Linda Byington will be on the ESPN+ call.

- Gibadlo led the team with 16 kills and a season-high 3 aces.
- Isabelle Marco led the team in assists (38) and a season-high in digs (11)
