VERONA, Wis. – The 14th-ranked Utah cross country team finished 10th-overall on Friday against a loaded field on the Zimmer Championship Course in the annual Nuttycombe Invitational.
Veterans
Erin Vringer and
Annastasia Peters led the way with top-25 finishes. Vringer was the first to cross the finish line for Utah, checking in with a run of 20:03.6 for 12th-overall after passing 16 other runners in the final 2000m and a whopping 38 runners between the 2k and 4k checkpoints.
Meanwhile, Peters checked in at 20:21.5 for 24th-overall after picking up the pace between the 2k and 4k checkpoints and passed 21 other competitors before passing another six in the final 2000m.
Millie Wilcox, who transitioned from the sprints team, continues have a strong debut on the cross country side and finished in 85th with a time of 21:00.8 as Utah's third scorer. Like her teammates she also passed over 20 runners in the final 4000m of the race.
Kyla Martin was Utah's fourth scorer, checking in at 21:07.7 for 96th followed by freshman
Emily Junginger right behind her in 99th-place with a mark of 21:08.4.
Marika Couture and
Lindsey Peters closed out the race for the Utes.
"B" Race
Senior
Bri Rinn led the way for the Utes competing in the "B" race at the Nuttycombe Invitational, finishing fourth-overall with a time of 21:18.6 after jumping five sports in the final 2000m.
Josie Fale was the second Ute to cross the finish line, recording a mark of 21:56.3.
Sona Kourilova (22:01.1) and
Claire Le Gallo (22:06.2) weren't far behind Fale, finishing in 31st and 33rd, respectively. Freshman
Cloe Ruth completed her first 6k race with a time of 22:17.7 and was Utah's fifth scorer in 44th-place while
Lauren Ayers closed things out for the Utah in the "B" race with a run of 22:19.2 for 46th-overall.

Utah will now turn its attention towards the postseason with the Big 12 Cross Country Championships
presented by All State on the docket first starting at 10 a.m. (MDT) on Friday, Oct. 31, at Rim Rock Farms on the campus of the University of Kansas. Both men's and women's races will broadcast on ESPN+. Award ceremonies are scheduled for approximately 11 a.m. (MDT) or as soon as possible after the conclusion of the women's race.
