FAMILIAR FACES
When the Utes and Huskies square off on Monday, Dec. 29, there will be some familiar faces on the opposing bench with former Runnin' Ute coaches Tommy Conner, Andy Hill and DeMarlo Slocum now coaching at Washington. Conner played for the Runnin' Utes (1986-88, 1990) and served two different stints on his Alma Mater's coaching stuff – first under the late Rick Majerus (1994-97) and then on Larry Krystokowiak's staff from 2011-21 after a successful 12-year run as the head coach at Westminster (NAIA). Andy Hill was on Krystkowiak's staff the entire time at Utah as well. Slocum had two different stints on the Hill, first on Krystkowiak's staff from 2011-19 before returning to join Craig Smith's staff from 2021-24. All three played integral parts in Utah's back-to-back Sweet 16 runs and three-consecutive first-round NBA Draft selections.
