LUBBOCK, Texas – The Utah track & field team had a solid day on the track in its first Big 12 Indoor Championships on Friday inside the Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech.
Millie Wilcox opened the day moving two spots up the Utah record books in the mile when she ran the fifth-fastest mark with a PR run of 4:39.72 (aa) and earned a spot in the finals with the fifth-fastest time on the day.
McKaylie Caesar was just shy of running a personal best mark, finishing at 4:43.46 (aa).
Bailey Kealamakia didn't qualify for the finals in the 400m dash but was able to record a new PR time of 56.09 (aa) and tied Skylar Blair for the 10th spot in the school record book.
Sophomore
Kyla Martin earned an automatic spot into the 800m finals when she broke the school record with a run of 2:05.04 (aa), breaking the record
Josefine Eriksen set just last year.
Freshman
Chelsea Amoah continues to move upward, improving her hold on the Utah 200m record with a time of 23.56 (aa) for a new PR.
Utah picked up two points on the day from the 5000m and DMR team.
Morgan Jensen placed eighth in the 5000m race with a time of 16:19.47 (aa) while the DMR squad placed eighth as well with a combined run of 11:22.30 from
Lauren Ayers, Kealamakia,
Madi Hulsey and
Grace Moroney – which is good for eighth all-time at Utah as well.

The Women of Utah return to the track on Saturday and look to add more points to the total in its first-ever Big 12 Indoor Championships inside the Sports Performance Center.
