The Utah track & field team will compete at the Big 12 Indoor Championships this weekend in Lubbock, Texas.
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track & field team is headed to Lubbock, Texas, for the Big 12 Indoor Championships (Feb. 28 – March 1) this weekend inside the Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech University.

The Women of Utah will be sending 17 participants to their first-ever Big 12 Indoor Championships this weekend in Lubbock, Texas. Of the 17, Chelsea Amoah, Lauren Ayers, Annie Ivins, Morgan Jensen, Bailey Kealamakia, Emily Martin, Kyla Martin, Grace Moroney, Anna Peters, Megan Rose, Chloe Shewell, Erin Vringer and Millie Wilcox will all be competing in their first indoor conference championships meet.

MILERS DO WORK
For the second-straight meet in Seattle, Utah's milers rewrote the school record book – this time four new marks and five PRs at the Husky Classic. Kyla Martin (fifth) lead the charge followed by McKaylie Caesar (seventh), Millie Wilcox (ninth) and Grace Moroney (10th).

DMR GOES THE DISTANCE
Utah's DMR team of Bri Rinn, Emily Martin, Kyla Martin and Erin Vringer were 1-of-5 schools to break the NCAA DMR record when they recorded a time of 10:42.56 at the Husky Classic – which went down as the fifth-fastest DMR time ever in the NCAA.

AMOAH MAKES IT KNOWN
Freshman Chelsea Amoah made her presence known at the Don Kirby Invitational when she broke Utah's all-time record in the 200m dash with a run of 23.63 (aa) inside the Albuquerque Convention Center. The West Jordan native broke a two-year-old record that was held by Dinedye Denis (23.85 aa)

VRINGER INCHES CLOSER
Utah junior Erin Vringer was just a second off from breaking the school 3000m indoor record at the Husky Classic, but settled for second with a time of 8:54.92. The current mark is held by fellow Canuck, Simone Plourde, who set the record two years prior with a time of 8:53.95.

MARTIN HITTING HER STRIDE
Emily Martin, the eldest of the Martin sisters, was less than a second from overtaking her former teammate Josefine Eriksen as the program's record-holder in the 400m dash when she posted 54.01 (aa) less than 24 hours after helping the DMR squad run the fifth-fastest time ever in NCAA history with all top-5 finishers breaking the NCAA record.

Heading into the Big 12 Indoor Championships only Utah's DMR squad has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships that will take place in Virginia Beach, Va., March 14-15.
