SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah softball team suffered a 7-1 defeat to the Arizona State Sun Devils on Sunday afternoon in Big 12 Conference action at Dumke Family Softball Stadium in Salt Lake City.
Utah is now 12-30 in 2025 and 4-11 in conference.
The first inning was scoreless, but the Sun Devils used a walk and three hits, including a Samantha Swan two-run double, to go up, 3-0.
Brooklyn Carreon and
Shelbee Jones kept the visitors off the scoreboard in each of the next two innings and Utah got a run back in the fourth, thanks to an RBI infield hit by
Reese Lee. Unfortunately for the Utes, ASU responded with a four-spot in the fifth to go ahead, 7-1, and that score held the rest of the way.
Jolie Mayfield was one of the bright spots for Utah, being credited with two hits, her seventh multi-hit game of the year.

Utah's next opponent will be Weber State, who they'll host on 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
