Women of Utah Close Out Big 12 Championships

The Utah track & field team finished with 33 points in its first outing at the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Utah track & field team wrapped up its first Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Rock Chalk Park – finishing with 33 points for 11th-place in the team standings.Â

Utah's 4x100m relay team of Megan Rose, Emily Martin, Bailey Kealamakia and Chelsea Amoah got Saturday going for the Utes by running a 44.05 – which was just .03 off of the school record they set earlier this year. The fourth-overall finish added five points to Utah's team total for the weekend to make it 18 points.

Erin Vringer added another five points for Utah when she clocked in at 4:10.23 for fourth-overall. Her mark was both a new PR and good to bump her up to No. 2 on the all-time list at Utah. Meanwhile, Millie Wilcox placed seventh-overall at 4:17.03 to add two more points for the Utes, bringing its total to 25 points.

In a loaded 400m dash field, Martin managed to finish sixth-overall to give Utah three points behind a new PR time of 52.73.

Bri Rinn posted a new PR in the 800m final when she crossed the finish line at 2:03.38 and jumped to No. 3 all-time at Utah. Her seventh-overall also gave the Utes two more points. Meanwhile, Kyla Martin would follow in at ninth-overall with a run of 2:10.79.
The Women of Utah now return home for 1.5 weeks before heading out to E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas, on the campus of Texas A&M University for the NCAA West Preliminaries (May 29 & 31). Full coverage of the west preliminaries will stream live on ESPN+.

McKaylie Caesar was Utah's lone competitor in the 5000m race and finished 12th-overall after a long weather delay with a run on 16:18.73.Â
