IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 released its annual postseason awards and all-conference teams on Wednesday and Utah's
Kaylah Nelsen and
Kennedy Proctor were both named to the All-Big 12 Second-Team and Proctor also landed on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
For Nelsen, this makes consecutive seasons in which she's taken home all-league second-team honors, something she also garnered in 2024. Proctor is the first Utah catcher to achieve all-conference status since Brooke Olson in 2011 and her place on the all-freshman roster means the Utes have placed at least one rookie on that squad in three straight seasons.
Kaylah Nelsen has done nothing but hit in 2025 and her 63 total knocks have her tied for fourth in the league and she's also tied for sixth in doubles with 12. In Big 12 competition, she hit .375, eighth-best in the conference, tied for the league lead in doubles and ranks second in hits. She's also been the toughest player in the Big 12 to strike out, with just two Ks in 80 at-bats. Overall in 2025, she's led Utah in nearly every offensive category, including multi-hit games, with 17. She's also crafted Utah's longest hit streak, recording at least one hit in 13 consecutive games from Feb. 13 - March 14.
Proctor has wasted no time introducing herself to the Big 12 and she ranks sixth in conference play in RBIs and is also in the top 10 in homers and slugging percentage. Proctor owns top 20 spots in batting average, with a .356 clip, and total bases as well and she's driven in multiple runs in eight games, second-most among Utah players. On the defensive side, her four base stealers caught is tied for fourth. On April 1, she became the first Ute ever named Big 12 Player of the Week.
Nelsen, Proctor and their teammates are preparing to open their postseason at the Big 12 Tournament, which begins for them on Wednesday at 4 p.m. MT against UCF.
