IRVING, Tx. –
Gabriel Palacios has earned a coveted spot on the All-Big 12 Golf Team, the league announced Thursday morning, after a stellar sophomore season with the Utes.
Palacios is just one of 10 golfers recognized by the Big 12 Conference in their post-season honors.
The Guatemalan native had exceptional year with the Utes, highlighted by capturing his first two collegiate crowns of his career. Palacios' first title came at the John Burns Intercollegiate where he shot an 11-under 199. Palacios carried that performance over to The Goodwin with a 5-under 205 performance.
Palacios' efforts in the spring shot him up the national rankings where he went from No. 142 to No. 37, and earned the Utes their first Big 12 Golfer of the Month recognition in February of 2025. Palacio repeated the honor in March, and finished the season as the 49
th ranked player in the country.
Utah's golf star is set to compete later this week (June 5-7) at the prestigious Arnold Palmer Cup as the first Ute and Guatemalan native to receive an invite.
