SALT LAKE CITY— The Utah women's tennis team will continue home play in a double header against the Utah State Aggies and the Montana Grizzlies on Friday, Jan. 30 starting at 10 a.m. MT. Â
The Utes currently hold a 1-1 record after a 6-1 win against the Idaho State Bengals this past weekend.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
The Aggies opened their 2026 slate against the Utah Tech Trailblazers in St. George, Utah with a 4-3 victory. Utah State secured the doubles point with victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. In singles play, three different freshmen led the way for the Aggies' victory in Terezia Mlkva, Chahd Tourkhani, and Sabina Pintea holding the Trailblazers to two sets.
SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
The Montana Grizzlies opened their 2026 spring season with a 7-0 loss against the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Seattle, Wash. The Griz dropped the opening doubles point to the Bulldogs on courts one and three while leading on court two. Gonzaga would eventually go to sweep the Griz in singles action. Griz freshman Meghna Anand took her first collegiate match to a third set tiebreaker but would fall 7-5, 6-7(6), 0-1(8) on court two.
THE UTES
The Utah women's tennis program returns seniors
Dylan Lolofie,
Kaila Barksdale and
Emma Valletta. The Utes also welcome juniors
Sara Akid and
Emma Kamper this season. Utah has one sophomore returning to the squad in
Hayley Roberts. The Utes welcome four newcomers with two transfers in
Emmie Moore and
Kamea Medora and two new true freshmen in
Andjelija Markovic and
Hailey Kerker.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utes picked up their first win of the season with a 6-1 victory over the Idaho State Bengals last Saturday afternoon. The Utes swept in doubles play and then kept strong momentum going into singles action.
Sara Akid picked up the first singles point for the Utes going 6-1, 6-0 over Asem Shoybek at the No. 3 spot.
Emmie Moore battled Stefanya Shalakhova in the No. 2 spot, where she went on to win the match 6-3, 6-3.
Emma Kamper secured the overall victory point for the Utes after defeating Mille Day, 6-3, 6-2.
HEAD COACH RUTH ANN ALLEN
The Utah women's tennis team welcomedÂ
Ruth Ann Allen as head coach this season. A Utah native and a Utah All-American and Hall of Famer, Allen returns to lead the program after a successful tenure as head coach at Weber State. She guided the Wildcats to a Big Sky Championship in 2023 and was twice named Big Sky Coach of the Year (2022, 2023).
Before Weber State, Allen spent 20 seasons as an assistant coach at Utah, where she helped the Utes secure multiple NCAA Tournament bids, two Mountain West Conference titles, and numerous top-five regional rankings. Allen, an All-American during her playing career at Utah, was inducted into the Utah Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2023.

The Utes will travel to Hawai'i to face the Rainbow Wahine on Feb. 7 before coming home the face Washington State (Feb. 14) and Denver (Feb. 15) Valentine's weekend.
