SALT LAKE CITY— The University of Utah women's tennis team is set to travel to the Pacific Northwest to face the Washington Huskies and the San Diego Toreros this weekend. The Utes are coming off a 4-1 win over the Denver Pioneers and are currently 6-1 on the season.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
The No. 20-ranked Washington Huskies are currently 5-0 on the season and are coming off a 4-0 victory over the Baylor Bears. In doubles action, the Huskies see success in the duo of Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim. Jacobs and Weissheim are currently 4-0 on the season.
In singles action, Weissheim, Jacobs and Jarmine Sherif all secured victories to clinch the win for the Huskies.
In addition to her singles victory, Sherif was named Big Ten player of the Week on Feb. 11 after defeating Baylor's No. 98-ranked Mu-Jie Tzeng, setting her record 5-0 overall on the season.

SCOUTING THE TOREROS
The San Diego Toreros are coming off a 6-1 loss against the No. 19-ranked UCLA Bruins this past weekend. The Toreros lost the doubles point and struggled in singles action. San Diego's Gaby Gregg put the Toreros on the board with a 6-2, 7-6(5) victory over UCLA's Rona Rugara.
Two Toreros duos have a 3-2 record on the season— the pairing of Anni Moll and Hanah Read and the pairing of Charlotte Keitel and Maria Shmakova.
In singles play, Gregg and Shmakova also hold a 5-2 record each.
This will be the first neutral match-up for both the Utah Utes and San Diego Toreros this season. The Toreros are currently 4-4 on the season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Utah Utes are currently coming off a winning weekend after defeating the Washington State Cougars, 4-3, on Feb. 14 and the Denver Pioneers, 4-1, on Feb. 15.
The Utes lost the doubles point against Denver. However, Utah's
Sara Akid and
Emmie Moore had a strong 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot. The duo of Akid and Moore are on a 3-game win streak with an overall record of 3-1.
Utah's
Kaila Barksdale is currently on a hot streak with a 6-0 singles record. Last matchup, Barksdale fought hard to pick up a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Denver's Natalie Cinkova at the No. 3 spot to give the Utes a 3-1 edge over the Pioneers.
The Utes are currently 6-1 on the season.
HEAD COACH RUTH ANN ALLEN
The Utah women's tennis team welcomedÂ
Ruth Ann Allen as head coach this past season. A Utah native and a Utah All-American and Hall of Famer, Allen returns to lead the program after a successful tenure as head coach at Weber State. She guided the Wildcats to a Big Sky Championship in 2023 and was twice named Big Sky Coach of the Year (2022, 2023).
Before Weber State, Allen spent 20 seasons as an assistant coach at Utah, where she helped the Utes secure multiple NCAA Tournament bids, two Mountain West Conference titles, and numerous top-five regional rankings. Allen, an All-American during her playing career at Utah, was inducted into the Utah Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2023.
NEXT UP
The Utes will travel to the South to begin conference play. First, the Utes will duel against the Houston Cougars in Houston on Feb. 26 and then travel to Orlando, Fla. to face the currently ranked No. 25 UCF Knights on Feb. 28. The Utes will be back home in the George S. Eccles Tennis Center to face in-state rival BYU on Mar. 7.
