SALT LAKE CITY – The championships season begins for Utah track & field as it heads to Lubbock, Texas, for the 2026 Big 12 Indoor Championships hosted by Texas Tech inside the Sports Performance Center starting this Friday.

Utah will send 18 competitors to the Big 12 Indoor Championships this weekend with María Alvarado,
Haley Duvall,
Josie Fale,
Glo Hussey,
Emily Junginger,
Lindsey Peters,
Bri Rinn and
Mackenzie Rogers competing in either their first indoor conference championship meet or indoor conference meet for Utah. From the list of first-timers at the indoor conference meet, Duvall and Junginger are freshmen.

BIG 12 REWIND
In Utah's first Big 12 Indoor Championships last season, it had seven top 10 finishes.
Erin Vringer and
Millie Wilcox led the way as Utah's top finishers, placing fifth in the 3000m race (9:09.14) and mile (4:42.98). Vringer has since broken the school 3000m record in 2025-26 with a mark of 8:48.26 while Wilcox set a new mile PR of 4:38.76 this season. Other's finishing in the top 10 include
Morgan Jensen (16:32.38) and
Clara Mayfield (16:32.93) in the 5000m race while the DMR (8th) and 4x400m relay (10th) rounded out the top 10 finishes for Utah.
QUALIFIERS
Heading into championship weekend, only
Erin Vringer and the DMR team currently have qualifying marks for this year's NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Vringer is just on the cusp at No. 16 with a mark of 8:48.26 in the 3000m race while Utah's DMR squad is also sitting near the cusp at No. 10 with a time of 10:47.98.

Bri Rinn will look to run a qualifying time this weekend in the mile as she currently sits at No. 17 with a run of 4:28.44 back on Valentine's Day Weekend at the Husky Classic.
Chelsea Amoah, who currently sits at No. 23 on the qualifying list, will also look to improve her position and earn a qualifying spot in the 200m.

UP NEXT
Should the Utes have any individuals and/or its DMR squad qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, it'll head to a familiar place in the Tyson Track Center to compete on Friday, March 13, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
