LUBBOCK, Texas – The Utah track & field team saw its DMR squad medal on Friday inside the Sports Performance Center while four Utes advance to finals of their respective events on day one of the Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Bri Rinn opened competition for Utah out on the track and earned a spot in the finals of the mile after taking second in her heat and third-overall in the prelims with a run of 4:46.06 (aa).

María Alvarado started a string of PRs for Utah on the track with the midseason transfer running 8.72 (aa) in the 60m hurdles to move into a tie for No. 6 on the all-time list.

Emily Martin then went out a won her section of the 400m dash prelims behind a 53.50 (aa) to propel herself into the No. 1 spot all-time at Utah while
Kinzlee Riddle posted a time of 54.00 (aa).

Not to be outdone by her older sister,
Kyla Martin went out and broke the school record in the 1000m run with a time of 2:45.69, which was good for fourth-overall and earn her a spot in the finals, while
Millie Wilcox followed with the No. 3 time (2:48.06).

Like clockwork, sophomore
Chelsea Amoah once again broke her 200m record in the prelims with a mark of 23.09 (aa) – which was good to win her heat and take second-overall and advance to the finals.
Matejah Mangum would improve her position at No. 5 on the Utah all-time list after she crossed the finish line at 24.11 (aa).

In the first of two finals on Friday,
Annastasia Peters nearly missed out on medaling in the 5000m race after crossing the finish line at 16:16.44 (aa) for ninth-overall.

The DMR crew closed out the first day of action for Utah with
Mackenzie Rogers,
Lela Divinity,
Lauren Ayers and
Josie Fale just missing out on a top-3 finish with a time of 11:17.78 (aa) for fourth-overall. Their time ranks seventh all-time at Utah and earned the quartet a spot on the medal stand.

Glo Hussey kick-started the day for Utah in the pentathlon, opening with a 60m hurdles PR of 9.05 (aa) before closing out the high jump with a height of 1.66m (5-5.25). She then went on to post a new personal best in the shot put, tossing a 9.57m (31-4.75) in her second attempt. After a day's best mark of 5.62m (18-5.25) in the long jump, Hussey ran 2:27.51 (aa) in the 800m run for a new personal record. She would finish with 3,665 points – which moved her up to No. 6 all-time at Utah and set a new PR for the Kodiak, Alaska, native.
