Utes lose 9-4
SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 25 University of Utah softball team was defeated 9-4 by the Abilene Christian Wildcats on Thursday afternoon at Dumke Family Softball Stadium in Salt Lake City.
The Utes are now 23-6.
The Wildcats used a single, a stolen base, an RBI triple and a passed ball to tally two runs in the first, then they added four unearned runs in the second thanks to two-out error that was followed by three straight singles.
In Utah's half of the second, the home team loaded the bases with one out and Kennedy Proctor singled in a pair, but when Proctor passed Mia Gomez on the bases and Danika Wilson grounded out, Utah's deficit remained at four. ACU then bumped their edge back to six with two more unearned runs in the third.
In the fourth, a Mia Gomez RBI single and a run-scoring fielder's choice made the score 8-4, but the Utes couldn't find a way to reduce the deficit further.

After a weekend off, the Utes will visit the Kansas Jayhawks for a three-game series that will begin on March 20.
