SALT LAKE CITY — Utah gymnastics head coach
Carly Dockendorf has signed a four-year contract extension through 2031, Director of Athletics
Mark Harlan announced today. Entering her fourth season as head coach in 2027, Dockendorf has led the Red Rocks to three consecutive conference championships and is the only head coach in NCAA gymnastics history to lead her team to the NCAA Finals in each of her first two seasons as a head coach.Â
Â
"
Carly Dockendorf has done a tremendous job leading our gymnastics program in her first three years as head coach," Harlan said. "She has developed her student-athletes, created a strong culture and established her vision for the future of the Red Rocks program. The student-athletes in her program represent the University of Utah and the athletics department in exemplary fashion in the community, while achieving excellence in competition and the classroom. I'm thrilled to extend her contract through 2031."
Â
In Dockendorf's first three seasons as head coach, she has successfully led the team to three league titles in two conferences
—Pac-12  in 2024 and
Big 12 in 2025 and 2026—while also nurturing some of the biggest stars in recent program history. Utah gymnasts earned 10 WCGA Regular Season All-America awards this season.
Â
"Thank you to Mark and the University of Utah for their continued belief in my vision for this program," said Dockendorf. "My family and I feel so grateful to be part of a university that supports women's gymnastics at the highest level and prioritizes a holistic approach to winning championships, while also developing the next generation of powerful women. What makes this university so special are the people who are here; the women on this team, the staff, the administration, and the community of people who continue to invest in the Red Rocks at every level."
Â
 During Dockendorf's first season,
Maile O'Keefe broke the school record for perfect 10s in a career (15), and 10s on beam in a career (14) while being named Â
a finalist for the AAI Award. The following year under Dockendorf's care, Olympian
Grace McCallum was also pegged as
an AAI Award finalist in her final season as a Ute and was named the 2025 WCGA North Central Region Gymnast of the Year, and Big 12 Gymnast of the Year.
Â
In Dockendorf's third season, all eyes have turned to former No. 1 recruit
Avery Neff, who as just a sophomore was named the
2026 WCGA North Central Gymnast of the Year and 2026 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year, after earning the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year award in 2025.
Â
The former NCAA Region Assistant Coach of the Year (2020 and 2022), Dockendorf has developed 28 NCAA All-Americans and one individual NCAA National Champion.
Â
Utah was the only collegiate gymnastics team to reach the NCAA Championship Final every year from 2021-2025, with two of those seasons coming under Dockendorf's direction.
Â
UP NEXT
Dockendorf will head to Fort Worth, Texas with Neff (all-around),
Ana Padurariu (beam), and
Ella Zirbes (floor) as they compete for individual titles at the NCAA National Championship on April 16.
