Dampier Named to Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List

Award given annually to the most outstanding player in college football
SALT LAKE CITY — Utah senior quarterback Devon Dampier has been named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List, the Walter Camp Foundation announced on Monday.
Dampier is one of 50 players to watch for 2026, and one of 41 offensive players on the list, including 22 quarterbacks.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year is the nation's fourth-oldest individual college football accolade and was first awarded in 1967. It is presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
Dampier earned Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors, Third Team All-Conference recognition and was a Manning Award Finalist in 2025 after throwing for 2,180 yards and 22 touchdowns, while rushing for 687 yards and seven scores during the regular season.
The Phoenix, Ariz., native earned Las Vegas Bowl MVP honors, rushing for 148 yards and three touchdowns along with completing 19-of-31 passes for 310 yards and two more scores as No. 15 Utah defeated Nebraska, 44-22. It marked Dampier's second game of the season with five total touchdowns as well as his second game with 200-plus passing yards and 100-plus rushing yards.
The 2026 Player of Year Watch List will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in early November, and three finalists will be announced in early December. The 2026 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 138 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced in the second week of December.
