On the play from freshmen Devon Daniels and Jayce Johnson...
It was a lot of focus. Jayce has been putting some time in and around the basket, slowing down a little bit. I would like to believe the game is slowing down. Often times for freshman coming in - that is the thing I remember - is each time you take a level, a jump up, the game is going pretty fast.
Â
Tonight Jayce made three or four post moves that were under control and took advantage of his size. He did a nice job rebounding. He played four or five minutes in the first half and he had a rebound every minute he was in the game and was solid for us. It was good to see. Those guys are both finding a little bit of confidence and playing the game, making some things happen. Devin [Daniels] was really active I thought defensively in particular and made some good plays for us.
Â
On the second half defense…
We actually started the second half in some zone and I think that probably had as much as anything to maybe disrupt them a bit and throwing them a curve ball. We had a number of possessions to start that second half that was working out for us. They’re a dribble-penetration type team and I thought that might have taken out a little bit of air out of their sails and kept their big guy out of the game a little bit with some of the post touches that he had in the first half.
Â
On advantage in the paint…
I thought we could still be better defensively, rebounding. We missed some, gave them some opportunities in the first half. I think they had four or five offensive rebounds. We just know we are going to have to be a lot better. We have Butler rolling in here on Monday. [That is a] big, big, strong team, with a lot of guys flying around. This was a good game for us. I thought the Larsson kid on their squad is a bonified post player. We didn’t double-team him and played straight up and managed to stay out of trouble, but we are going to have our hands full with a number of guys. That’s what I told our guys. We are going to have to be sharper and be ready to grind it out.

Freshman Forward Devon Daniels

Attacking the basket…
That is just how I play. I like to attack my opponent. I like to get as many chances for my team as I can and that is why I go so hard to the rim. I try to get as many boards as I can get.Â

On the tie 21-all in the beginning..
We just got stops. That was the biggest thing. I can’t remember which media timeout it was, but we got in there and said we need to get stops. If we can do that, then we can run because their defensive transition wasn't that good. That was just our mindset and our mindset after that point. Just try to get stops and then offense will take care of itself.Â
Â
On Butler…
I think we just have to approach like we have been all season. We have been pretty locked in with game plans and the person knows of other teams. Butler is great team and they have a lot of players in double digits. They have a great fore man and point guard that really distribute. They have a lot of great role players. That is a tall task for us right now. But I am looking forward to that game.Â
