On the game…
We just needed to make a couple more plays, we shot ourselves in the foot in a number of different ways… Turnovers, defense, giving up some dunks, blowing pick and roll coverage, missed layups… I don’t think it needs a broad brush, it’s just you’ve got to rise to the occasion if you’re playing the No. 10 [ranked] team in the nation.
They’re a heck of a defensive team, you can’t miss layups when presented them, and you can’t turn it over that many times against a good defensive team or you put too much pressure on yourself. We had some lapses in minor places, if we want to beat a top 10 team we’ve just got to execute on those types of plays.
On slowing down the tempo of the offense…
Well they go into their three-quarters defense and you can’t really go fast against that type of defense. There was a pace we were looking for, that came when we got stops, and I think we were a little more effective when that actually happened. They’re a great defensive team, on dead balls and rebounds they force you to slow down. I didn’t think we were on point at times of urgency, but again Oregon is the top defensive tea, in our conference and one of the best in the nation. They have a lot of athletic guys, and you can’t simulate that in practice.
Junior Kyle Kuzma
On their defensive play…
I just think we didn’t do a good job offensively, we stood around a lot of the time and wait till what we call “butters” which is when the shot clock is at 10 seconds or less. We were just really stagnant honestly, that was the biggest thing.
On the turnovers…
We had a lot of careless turnovers within their press. We have a young team, we just have to be poised and shake this off.
Freshman Devon Daniels
On what followed after his dunk and getting behind Oregon…
I think it all started on defense, offense as well. We stood around a lot, especially me, I had a couple opportunities to get to the rack and I didn’t take them. I think we just didn’t play as hard and aggressive as we needed to on both ends.
On the difference between Washington and Oregon…
I just didn’t have the right mindset, when I got in the lane I just wanted to pass and I didn’t finish sometimes. They are definitely longer than Washington, but that doesn’t really make a difference, you’ve just got to go into the paint hard… That was originally the pla, and I didn’t execute well enough.

On the game…
It was a great atmosphere. We were a little sluggish to start, we didn’t handle the last four minutes very well, but we found a way to win, so it was a good job.
On Dillon Brooks playing…
The last couple days, we did a lot of good things. So we didn’t have him do much, but he was moving around pretty good, during shoot around today he said he was ready to go, he had no pain, he was ready to go. He’ll be saying he needs more days off.
He likes to be on stage, always has, he’s not afraid of it. We didn’t start very well, gave up six easy baskets to start the game, which is just embarrassing. But the other guys tied it up after that, got it going both ways.
On Oregon’s offense….
We hit just enough free throws to keep them at bay. Jordan missed a little lob play that would have kept it to a four-point range, but the guys found a way. We had some bad turnovers the last four minutes, and a couple crazy shots, I have no idea what they were thinking, so I’m really disappointed in that, but hopefully they’ll learn from it.
