Charles Stephenson is the Performance Director for men’s basketball at the University of Utah and enters his fifth season with the Runnin’ Ute program.
He brings nearly 25 years of experience as a strength coach at the collegiate level. Prior to Utah, he was the Director of Olympic Sports and basketball strength coach at North Carolina State from 1996-2011, and Director of Olympic Sports at Auburn University from 1994-96. Before Auburn, he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Virginia from 1987-94.
Stephenson is founder of the High Performance Basketball Symposium. The Symposium is a lecture and hands on learning experience with the top basketball performance coaches in the country.
Coach Stephenson earned his Master’s Degree in exercise physiology from University of Virginia, and did his undergraduate work at the College of William & Mary, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. Currently, he is pursuing a Master Certificate in Business Analytics at the University of Utah.
