“Through all the highs and lows of my college career, I am leaving the University of Utah with one of my greatest accomplishments, a bachelor’s degree, and I couldn’t feel more happy and triumphant.”
I was drawn to Utah because of the great opportunity to receive an elite education while playing in a tremendous conference with and against other elite athletes. Along with that, I was welcomed by an amazing group of women, coaching staff, and community where I knew I would experience a home away from home.
My tips for succeeding as a student-athlete: it’s important to be disciplined, but also have fun. Growing up, my family always emphasized excellence in everything we do. Whether I was on the court, in the classroom, or out and about hanging with friends I was taught to carry myself with a level of excellence. I tried to carry this same mindset and lifestyle during my time as a student-athlete. My goal was to stay disciplined by producing excellence on and off the court and when I failed or fell short, I worked to be better the next time. Sometimes the stresses and struggles of college can be overwhelming and while in the grind it is always important to have fun. For me, enjoying quality time with friends, treating myself to something nice, doing some photography, and being heavily rooted in my faith helped me stay level.
One emotion that I am feeling about graduation this weekend is jubilance. Jubilance is feeling or expressing great happiness and triumph. I finish my college career with so much jubilee for all that I have accomplished during my four years at Utah on and off the court. Though this is the close of an amazing chapter, I am happy because of all the amazing memories, friends, and experiences I now have after four years. Through all the highs and lows of my college career, I am leaving the University with one of my greatest accomplishments, a bachelor’s degree, and I couldn’t feel more happy and triumphant.
After playing some years overseas, I hope to have received my master’s in Athletic Training while managing my thriving photography business. During my college career I developed a passion for photography. It was sometime between my sophomore and junior year I decided to really take up photography and have spent my college career as a student and an athlete, but also as a photographer growing my brand. I have had the privilege to intern with Utah Athletics and take photos for various sports. I love capturing the beauty in everything and using my creativity to bring joy and happiness to people.
