Utah won the coin toss and elected to receive. Stanford defended the North goal.
Offense
Utah eclipsed 500 yards of total offense for the first time since 2020 vs. Washington State (528).
Utah scored 38 points in a half (1st) for the first time since 2020 vs. Washington State (2nd). For the first half, it's the most by the Utes since 2013 and tied for 10th-most since 1968.
Utah had multiple 100-yard rushers in Micah Bernard and Tavion Thomas for the first time since 2013 vs. Oregon State (James Poole and Travis Wilson).
Utah produced 440 yards of total offense in the first half, the most for the Utes since amassing 424 yards in the first half vs. Weber State in 2013.
Junior running back TJ Pledger ran 96 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, for the longest run in Utah program history. It surpassed a 93-yard run for Frank Nelson vs. BYU in 1947.
It is tied for the third-longest run in Pac-12 history (including Pac-10 era) and is the longest since 1997. It is the second-longest in FBS football this season.
All-time at Utah, it's the second-longest play from scrimmage, short only of a 98-yard completion from Dan Hagemann to Jack Steptoe--coming in a 1976 game vs. New Mexico.
Pledger's run put the Utes ahead 34-0, and also pushed Pledger over the 1,000-yard mark for his career.
With sophomore running back Tavion Thomas'Â first half touchdowns (4), Thomas has scored 10Â of Utah's last 12Â rushing TDs.
His four touchdowns tie the Utah single-game record for the second straight week. It's the ninth performance by a Ute all-time.
Thomas is the first Pac-12 player since 1996 (this includes Pac-10 era) to rush for four-plus touchdowns in consecutive games. He is just the 11th Power 5 player to accomplish the feat since 1996, and the first since Minnesota's Mohamed Ibrahim in 2020.
Thomas' 58-yard hustle for a score in the second quarter was the longest rush of his career, surpassing a 43-yard run at USC (Oct. 9).
That 58-yard run capped Utah's quickest scoring drive of the season at just 12 seconds. It came in under the Utes' 35-second sequence last week vs. UCLA.
This is Thomas' fourth multi-rushing-touchdown game of the season (2 vs. Weber State, 2 at Oregon State, 4 vs. UCLA). Thomas now owns five such collegiate performances, including a two-touchdown game vs. Alabama A&M during 2018.
Thomas surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark in a single half for the second time this season. It includes the second half at USC, where Thomas had all 113 of his yards on the ground (16 carries) in the second half.
For the second straight game, Thomas scored multiple touchdowns both in a quarter and in a half. It includes a pair of scores for Thomas during the second quarter, and three total in the first half vs. UCLA (Oct. 30).
Sophomore quarterback Cameron Rising was 13-of-22 passing for 140 yards, with no interceptions and no sacks. Seven of Rising's 13 completions gave Utah a first down.
Freshman and fellow quarterback Ja'Quinden Jackson relieved Rising in the fourth quarter.
Three different Utes rushed for a touchdown, the third time this season that Utah has accomplished that feat (vs. Arizona State, at USC).
Utah has scored on its opening drive in four straight games.
Defense
Junior linebacker Devin Lloyd had a nine-yard sack in the first quarter, his second-longest of the season (14 vs. Arizona State).
Lloyd recorded his second career pick-six during the fourth quarter. It's his fourth career interception, and second pick-six. Lloyd's first pick-six came in 2019 vs. Oregon State, and it's the second for Utah this season (Clark Phillips III vs. Washington State).
Lloyd's five TFLs are a career-high and the most by a Ute since 2016. It is tied for fourth-most in a game in program history.
This season, Lloyd's five TFLs are the most by a Power 5 player and third-most in FBS football.
Freshman safety Cole Bishop's three-yard TFL on Stanford's first drive was Bishop's first career TFL. He added his first collegiate sack during the fourth quarter.
Redshirt freshman defensive end Miki Suguturaga had a strip-sack in the fourth quarter, both his first sack and first TFL as a Ute. Freshman linebacker Jonah Elliss came up with the recovery, his second of the season.
Utah produced 14Â TFLs as a team, the most since 2018 at Colorado (15).
Utah forced a game-opening three-and-out for the fifth time this season, and held its opponent scoreless on their opening drive for the seventh time this season.
The Utah defense allowed (-)13 yards of offense in the first quarter, marking the first time since at least 2019 that an opponent had negative offensive yards in a quarter.
The Utes have recorded a defensive takeaway in seven straight games, the second-longest active streak in the Pac-12.
Special Teams
Sophomore kicker Jadon Redding recorded his ninth game as a Ute with at least five made PATs. It includes vs. Washington State in 2020 and seven performances during 2019. Redding's career-high is seven made PATs, which he did vs. both Oregon State and UCLA in '19.
