Leila Ames
Leila Ames' primary role as Student-Athlete Advocate is to support the well-being and safety of student-athletes by providing neutral, private and informal assistance to student-athletes at the University of Utah. The SAA is a resource for information and referrals, and assists in the resolution of concerns by connecting student-athletes with appropriate existing adjudication processes. She assists the Athletics Department with the development, delivery and needs assessment of the Student-Athlete Health, Safety and Well-being Program.
Leila has served as the University of Utah’s first Student Athlete Advocate since 2017. She is an experienced Student Affairs professional who has worked with student-athletes in various capacities for nearly a decade. A Utah native and proud alum of the U, Leila earned a BA in Political Science and International Studies and Master of Legal Studies from the S.J. Quinney College of Law. Leila is also a certified mediator and conflict coach ready to assist student-athletes and other parties who are engaged in conflict. In her free time, Leila enjoys playing soccer, hiking, reading, baking, and spending time with her husband and three children.
