Special Teams
- Baylor won the coin toss and deferred. Utah defended the South end zone to begin the game.
- Both Utah and its opponent were scoreless through one quarter of play for the first time since the Washington State game on Oct. 27, 2022.
- Utah trailed 10-3 at half against the Bears; it is just the eighth time in the Pac-12 era that the Utes have trailed in the first half of a regular season non-conference game. Utah is 4-3 in those games prior to today.

Offense
- Quarterback Bryson Barnes made his third career start; it includes the Florida game in Week 1 as well as the road matchup at Washington State during the 2022 season.
- Tight end Miki Suguturaga made a 13-yard catch for a first down late in the opening quarter. Since converting from defensive end, both of Suguturaga's receptions have been for 10-plus yards.
- Running back Ja'Quinden Jackson had a season-long 44-yard rush during the second quarter. It was Jackson's third rush of 40-plus yards in his career (66 at Colorado in 2022; 53 vs. USC in 2022) and his sixth 20-plus-yard rush as a Ute.
- Jackson eclipsed 100 rushing yards during the fourth quarter. It is Jackson's third career 100-yard game (117 at Colorado in 2022; 105 vs. USC in the 2022 Pac-12 Championship).
- Wide receiver Mikey Matthews made his longest reception as a Ute (17 yards) during the fourth quarter.
Defense
- Safety Cole Bishop has recorded a TFL in consecutive games to begin the season. Bishop's 2.0 TFL (as of the second quarter) are his most since posting a career-high 3.0 TFL at Arizona in 2021.
- For the third straight game (including last year's Rose Bowl), Utah held its opponent scoreless and forced punts on its first two drives.
- Cornerback Zemaiah Vaughn made his second career interception and first since the 2020 season at Washington. Utah has had an interception in three of its last four games (dating back to the 2022 Pac-12 Championship vs. USC).
- Cornerback Tao Johnson recorded his first career pass breakup late in the third quarter.
Special Teams
- Punter Jack Bouwmeester booted a 56-yard punt during the first quarter. After having just one 50-yard punt on 39 attempts during the 2022 season, Bouwmeester has sailed 5-of-9Â attempts for 50-plus yards in 2023.
- Kicker Cole Becker made a 31-yard field goal during the second quarter and added a 46-yarded in the third quarter. Becker is now 28-of-37Â on field goal attempts during his career, and 2-for-3 at Utah.
