Chad Bumphis, the second all-time leading receiver in Mississippi State history, is in his first year as a Utah graduate assistant coach. Bumphis is assisting with the wide receivers.
              Bumphis joined the Utes after a year as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Buffalo in 2017. He coached the wide receivers at Iowa Wesleyan in 2016.
              Mississippi State’s leading receiver three of his four seasons from 2009-12, Bumphis ranks second all-time in receiving yards at the school with 2,270. He was named to the Freshman All-Southeastern Conference team by the league’s coaches in 2009 and was a second-team SEC receiver by the AP as a senior in 2012.
              He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2013 and spent time with the practice squads at Miami, Denver and Jacksonville before finishing his professional career with the Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Eskimos in 2015.Â
              He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Mississippi in 2013 and is currently taking graduate classes in psychology at Utah. Bumphis, 28, is a native of Tupelo, Miss.
