J.J. Dielman returns to his alma mater as a graduate assistant with the offensive coaching staff in 2020, one year after his retirement from the NFL.
A three-year starting offensive lineman for the Utes who started 31 consecutive games, Dielman spent time with five NFL teams across three NFL seasons after being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round in 2017 (176th overall).
Dielman earned All-Pac-12 second-team honors as a junior in 2015, starting all 13 games at right tackle for the second year in a row. He moved to center in 2016, was selected as a team captain, and started the first five games before his senior season was cut short because of injury. Dielman redshirted in 2012 and played in one game in 2013.
A graduate of Desert Vista High School in Awhatukee, Ariz., Dielman was a team captain and first-team all-state selection who helped lead his team to a state championship in 2011. He played both ways and gave up just one sack while making 39 tackles as a senior.
Dielman earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Utah.
