PRIOR TO UTAH: Played in 22 career games with four starts at Hawaii from 2016-17 … 26 tackles (1.0 sack) and a forced fumble in 2017 … career-high seven tackles against UNLV … played in 10 games as a freshman (missed three with injury) and totaled 11 tackles (1.0 TFL) and a pass breakup … 2015 Defensive Player of the Year by All-USA Hawaii, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and the OIA as a senior at Kahuku HS… also named the Cover2 Chad Owens’ Special Teams Player of the Year as a senior … two-time all-stater earned first-team honors as a senior … three-time all-OIA selection made the first team twice (2014-15)… eight interceptions in 2015 along with two defensive touchdowns and four special teams touchdowns … Kahuku went 13-0 and won the 2015 state championship … also ran track, winning the 110 hurdles at the 2015 OIA Track and Field Championship.
PERSONAL: Son of Keala (Louis) and Anue Santiago … father Louis and uncles Walter and Lane played football at Hawaii in the 1980s … three sisters … sister Zhane ran track and played soccer at Hawaii … cousin Manti Te’o played for Notre Dame and in the NFL for San Diego and New Orleans … human development and family studies major … full name is Louis Keala Santiago, Jr. (pronounced kee-ah-luh sahn-tee-ah-go).
