SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's soccer team trampled Air Force in a 2-1 victory today. The Utes outshot the Falcons 22 to 16, taking seven shots-on-goal. The win boosts Utah's season record to 11-5, bringing its Mountain West Conference record to 4-1. The win places the Utes in a three-way tie for first-place in MWC with Brigham Young and San Diego State.
Sophomore Amy Kofoed scored both of Utah's goals, posting the first at within the first two minutes of play. Freshman Brittany Harlan lobbed a ball over the Air Force defense allowing Kofoed to speed through on the breakaway. Her second goal came in the 72nd minute when Staci Burt sent a wide shot skimming past the Falcon net. Kofoed collected the ball for the score. The goals mark Kofoed's 12th of the season. She leads the team in goals and points (25).
The Utes return to MWC action Sat., Oct. 23 at 3:00 p.m. when they host Wyoming.
