SALT LAKE CITY (AP)- Utah looks to extend its home winning streak to 38 games when it plays host to Division II Augusta State on Friday.
The No. 20 Utes (2-2) suffered an 84-72 loss at Weber State on Wednesday night and have lost two of their last three games.
The game was a tale of two halves, as Weber State trailed 31-25 at halftime but opened the second half with a 14-6 run. The Wildcats took the lead for good at 38-37 with 16:43 to play.
Weber State made six 3-pointers in the second half and committed only nine turnovers. The Wildcats shot 23 percent (7-of-30) before the break and 72 percent (21-of-29) in the second half.
The Utes went scoreless for a stretch of almost three minutes late in the second half and the Wildcats extended to a 65-58 lead.
"In the second half, their whole offense got off early," Utah's Alex Jensen. "They started feeling it and didn't look back."
Utah, which has beaten Stony Brook and still has games left against Chicago State and Sioux Falls, plays another easy opponent in Augusta State.
"We don't have to return some of these games," Utah coach Rick Majerus said. "Every school has them."
Augusta State (3-3) rebounded from consecutive losses with a 72-53 victory at Winston-Salem State on Wednesday.
Junior Festus Hawkins leads the team with 13.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game and is shooting 61.7 percent from the field.
Senior forward Demetric Taylor is averaging 13.5 points and 4.3 rebounds, while freshman point guard Chris Harriman leads the team in assists with 3.7 per contest.
The Jaguars have the edge over their opponents in scoring (75.7 to 73.0 ppg) and rebounding (40.5 to 35.3 rpg), and are shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 41.0 percent from 3-point range.
