FULLERTON, Calif. - Arizona State scored five runs off of Ute starter Kristin Arbogast to post a 5-0 win over Utah in the opening game of the Kia Softball Klassic on Thursday afternoon at Cal State Fullerton.
Arbogast, who fell to 4-8, was touched for six hits and gave up two walks in 1-2/3 innings. Sarah Farnworth pitched well in relief, giving up just three hits in 5-1/3 innings.
The Sun Devils (24-5) outhit the Utes (12-13) nine to five. Lisa Hashimoto and Michele Larsen each had doubles for the Utes. Utah also played Cal State Fullerton late Thursday night and will meet Liberty on Friday afternoon before entering bracket play.
