LAS CRUCES, N.M.- The University of Utah got a big boost from Sarah and Stacy Farnworth, taking two of three games today at the Troy Cox Softball Classic. Utah defeated Arkansas 4-2 and Penn State 1-0, but was crushed by host New Mexico State 9-1, improving its record to .500 at 5-5.
The 30th ranked Utes were spearheaded against Arkansas by Stacy Farnworth, who went two for three at the plate with a double and a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Sarah picked up the win on the mound. Sarah earned her second victory of the day with a three-hit shutout against the Nittany Lions, while Stacy hit her second bomb of the day, a solo job in the sixth. New Mexico State took advantage of a poor Ute pitching performance in Utah's lone setback of the day.
