AUSTIN (AP) - Darren Kelly scored a season-high 30 points, leading Texas to a 70-59 win over Utah Saturday night.
The Longhorns (10-2) held Utah without a field goal for the final 5:03 and limited the Utes to 32.8 percent shooting (19-for-58) for the game.
Texas is 8-0 this year when it holds opponents under 40 percent field goal shooting and has won 25 straight games when it has done so.
With Utah's final field goal, a layup by Britton Johnsen, the Longhorns trailed for the last time, 55-54. Maurice Evans hit a 3-point goal with 4:27 remaining, beginning a 13-1 Texas run that put the game away.
Evans scored 18 points for the Longhorns.
Nate Althoff led Utah (7-6) with 12 points. Johnsen added 11 for the Utes.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half. The Longhorns, troubled by Utah's size, were 7 for 23 (30.4 percent) from the floor. The Utes, however, hit just 8 of 28 (28.6 percent).
The Utes held their biggest lead of the game, 26-19, with 5:39 before intermission. But the Longhorns scored 8 of the next 10 points, 4 on free throws by Kelly, to pull within 28-27 at halftime.
Texas now has won 20 consecutive home games, tied with Bowling Green for the fifth longest streak in Division I men's basketball.
