LOGAN, Utah - The University of Utah women's soccer team improved to 10-5-0 on the season with a 2-0 win against Utah State on Thursday. Coming off three-consecutive wins, the Utes extended their streak heading into the last match of the regular season at BYU on Saturday.
In the 11th minute, Ute senior, Amy Kofoed, put the Utes on the board by scoring an unassisted goal from eight yards out. The goal was Kofoed's 10th of the season. The remainder of the first period would be scoreless, as the Utes took a 1-0 advantage to the break.
Less than three-minutes elapsed in the second period when junior Shauna Gurr-Bingham scored the Utes' second and final goal to seal the victory. Gurr-Bingham is second in goals for the Utes this season with eight.
Lynssey Asay earned the victory at goalkeeper for the Utes to improve to 8-1 on the year. Asay earned her fifth shutout this season as well.
The Utes (10-5-0, 3-2-0) will take the field against BYU on Saturday with a piece of the Mountain West Conference title on the line. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
