TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Terrance Meade scored 18 points and Rod Grizzard had 16 points and 11 rebounds as No. 21 Alabama beat Utah 76-61 on Monday night.
The Crimson Tide (4-1) shot 63 percent in the second half and led throughout against the Utes (2-2).
Erwin Dudley added 12 points for Alabama and Kenny Walker had 10, including the game's first seven points.
Jeff Johnsen had 11 points and Lance Allred and Britton Johnson 10 points apiece for Utah. The Utes' starting five was a combined 11-for-36 shooting for 31 points.
Utah never got closer than 14 points in the second half, trailing by as many as 22.
Alabama has won 19 of its last 20 home games, including its first two this season.
The Utes cut the deficit to 14 points several times in the second half, the final one on Nick Jacobson's free throw with just under five minutes to play.
Grizzard, who also blocked three shots, answered with a 3-pointer over Trace Caton to put it away.
Alabama jumped out to a 20-5 lead early and forced 10 turnovers in the first 10 minutes.
Alabama stretched its lead to 21 points before reserve guard Eric Osmundson closed it to 42-26 with a 3-pointer and layup to end the half.
The Tide scored 24 points off 21 Utah turnovers, forcing 14 in the first half.
It was the first time since the 1994 Maui Classic that Utah has lost back-to-back nonconference games under coach Rick Majerus. The Utes were coming off a 78-65 loss to Utah State.
They are 0-3 all-time against the Tide.
