The 2001 NCAA Championships will be held April 19-21 in Athens, Ga. (Stegeman Coliseum). The University of Utah has qualified for a record 20th year. The 10-time national champion Utes are the only team to qualify for every NCAA Championship since competition began in 1982.
The NCAA Championships kick off on Thursday, April 19 with the team qualifying sessions. The NCAA all-around champion will also be crowned on Thursday and individuals will qualify into Saturday's event finals. There are two sessions on Thursday (see chart below), one at 1 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. (EDT). Utah is in the evening session.
The top three teams from each of Thursday's sessions will qualify into the Super Six, held Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. Friday's competition determines the NCAA Champion.
On Saturday, April 21, the championships conclude with the individual event competition. The top four individuals, including ties, from each of Thursday's sessions (regardless of score) are eligible to compete on Saturday.
