LARAMIE, Wyo. - Brandon Warfield ran for 164 yards and two touchdowns to lead Utah past Wyoming 23-18 Saturday.
It was the first time since 1999 the Utes (4-6, 2-4 Mountain West) did not shut out Wyoming (2-9, 1-5).
Utah took the lead for good at 20-18 with 7:17 left, on Warfield's 2-yard TD run.
Sheldon Deckart intercepted as pass by Wyoming's Casey Bramlet with 3:13 to play, putting the Utes at the Cowboys 20 and setting up Bryan Borreson's 30-yard field goal.
In the final minute, Wyoming took over at its 38 and advanced to Utah's 40. Malcom Floyd nearly made a touchdown catch as the clock ran out, but he couldn't keep a grip on the ball in the end zone.
Bramlet, who leads the conference in passing and total offense, completed 25 of 48 passes for 361 yards and threw a pair of TD passes to Scottie Vines, but Bramlet also threw two interceptions.
Utah's Brett Elliott was 19 of 35 for 216 yards and was also intercepted twice, by Jacque Finn.
The Cowboys led 18-14 late in the third quarter after a 9-yard TD pass from Bramlet to Vines, capping a 91-yard drive.
As the first half came to a close, Wyoming blew an opportunity when Bramlet tried to throw the ball away and was intercepted by Lewis Powell at Utah's 17-yard line.
The Cowboys closed to 14-11 midway through the second quarter on a 38-yard catch by Vines, who also caught the 2-point conversion pass.
The Utes took a 14-3 lead on a 49-yard run by Warfield. The touchdown came less than two minutes after Mark Palmer caught a 1-yard pass for the game's first touchdown.
Wyoming opened scoring with a 31-yard field goal by Scott Parker in the first quarter.
