Despite improving their regional qualifying score with a 197.250-195.525 win over Brigham Young on Friday, the Utah gymnastics team slipped a place to No. 5 in the latest national rankings. Moving into the top five for the first time since the preseason is two-time defending NCAA champion UCLA, who jumped to No. 3. The latest top 10 is No. 1 Georgia 196.925, 2. Alabama 196.815, 3. UCLA 196.810, 4. Michigan 196.655, 5. Utah 196.625, 6. Nebraska 196.385, 7. Oklahoma 196.345, 8. Stanford 196.200, 9. Minnesota 195.920, 10. Iowa State 195.775.
Utah's opponent this Saturday in the Huntsman Center, Oregon State, moved two places to No. 14 (195.215), while last week's opponent, BYU, returned to the rankings at No. 15 (195.185).
Utah remained the top-ranked beam team with a 49.310. The Utes have been ranked No. 1 on beam for the last two years. Individually, two-time NCAA beam champion Theresa Kulikowski is ranked No. 1 (9.945 RQS) and Shannon Bowles is No. 3 (9.925). Kulikowski is also No. 7 on bars (9.905) and No. 8 on floor (9.920).
